Our Opportunity

The Finance team were looking for some support to address their current challenges and create a finance function that was fit for the future. They wanted to ensure their service delivery model met the needs and expectations for the business and their business customers

They had been challenged in recent times by:

  • Poor system implementation and funding constraints.

  • Gaps in financial management practices.

  • High staff turnover and insufficient resourcing in some areas.

Objectives

  1. Enable the future state vision for Finance

  2. Uplift finance service delivery for the business

  3. Deliver better value for the business and business customers

Our Approach

This was about taking a step back to set the future vision but also identifying tangible opportunities for change, fast. We used this momentum to set up the team for success and follow through on their priorities.

What we did:

Current state assessment: We used workshops, interviews and a survey based maturity assessment to capture current challenges and pain points around service delivery.

Vision for Future Fit Finance: Together, we set a clear vision for the Finance team and identified the gap between current and future state. 

Future state roadmap: We collaborated with the Finance team to create a future state roadmap to deliver the required change. This included clear timelines, responsibilities, dependencies and quick wins to maintain momentum.

Programme mobilisation: We mobilised their Financial Transformation Programme and established the right structure and resources to deliver their roadmap.

Priority improvements: We worked with the team to design the changes identified in priority areas:

  • We developed roles and responsibilities, key processes and services offered by the different finance teams.

  • We designed a future state process for planning and reporting based on adapting best practice to the organisational context. This aligned financial and non-financial planning and reporting measures.
